What is  SUN  LIFE ?

SUN  LIFE  is a change in health emphasis, from maintenance to

                                         RESTORATION.

WHEN YOU ARE A 35 YEAR OLD DOCTOR IN THE 1980's AND YOU ARE THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF A NURSING HOME WITH SOME OF YOUR OWN PATIENTS THERE, YOU SAY TO YOURSELF, "WOW, RALPH AND SARA AND HELEN LAYING HELPLESS IN THEIR BEDS, THEY USED TO BE SOMEBODY."  SOME HAVE FAMILIES OR SOME OF THE NURSES HAVE KNOWN THEM FOR YEARS.  YOU LEARN THAT RALPH RAN A HARDWARE STORE, HELEN WAS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN, SARA IS THE YOUNGEST OF 8 SIBLINGS.  OH, MANY RESIDENTS ARE IN THEIR SEVENTIES AND EIGHTIES, A FEW NEARLY 100, BUT MORE THAN A COUPLE ARE IN THEIR 50'S.  HOW DID THEY ALL GET HERE !?

Q:  What is it that we do?                     A:  RESTORE HEALTH

Q: Really?  What is  GOOD HEALTH?

A: Good question.  If you have it, you may not know unless you haven't had it.  If you don't have it, you may not know what it is.  Deep stuff?  Heavy, man?

Q: How do you RESTORE HEALTH?

A: Philosophically:  Realize you were created to be healthy.  Your innate systems work at this constantly.  Assisting your body should be done carefully.

Practically:  Start with an assessment.  Refine the assessment.  Make a plan and carry it out.  Reassess, encourage, do more.  Repeat until healthy!

Q:  What is the GOAL of   SUN LIFE ?

A:   At 10 years old it's being active, dreaming of your future, being involved with family and school and extra-curriculars.

At 20 years old it's starting out in life, being busy  and active, approaching the future with excitement.

At 30 years old it's being active in work and family, setting goals for success for self and family and doing things you love with the ones you love.

At 40 years old it's total energy and involvement in work, family, church, enjoyment of hobbies and spending time with loved ones.

At 50 years old it's working hard, total involvement in family affairs, involvement in community, still playing tennis or running if that's been your habit.

At 60 years old it's thinking about changes in activities, maybe sooner, maybe later, but they all have to do with being as active as you were at 20.

At70 years oldit's being active, dreaming of your future, being involved with family and extra-curriculars.

At 80 years old it's looking forward to every day and how you can fill it, being active, fulfilling God's plan for your life, sharing wisdom with anyone who will listen.

At 90 years old it's exercising your mind, your body, keeping sorrows in the past and looking for the joys of the day.

       Q:   RESTORE from what?

A:   At 10, from lack of involvement in anything but sitting;at 20, from life going around in circles, struggling with hormones and dead ends; at 30, from fatigue, from struggling to fit in;at 40, from slowing down, from struggling with life, from the toll of alcohol and drugs, from thinking of giving up, from early death;at 50, from early menopause, from worry about looks and the future, from loss of interest, from being debilitated or dead; at 60, from multiple medications, from feeling old, from sorrow of losses;at 70, from not being active, from being in a nursing home;at 80, from being in a nursing home, from being dependent on your children, from a hopeless future; and at 90, from being totally dependent on anything except yourself.
